WHAT IS TMS?

Clinical Depression (also known as Major Depression) is serious, debilitating, and sometimes even life-threatening. Many people who suffer from depression may respond very well to medications, while others may not. Each time someone tries a medication that does not work, the chances of achieving remission decrease dramatically.

WHAT IS TREATMENT LIKE?

Treatments take about 19 minutes and are done in our Randolph offices. You settle into a reclining chair. When the treatment begins, you hear a clicking noise similar to an MRI, and experience a sensation like a finger tap. You remain fully awake and can watch TV or chat with someone in the room. The treatment does not cause any disorientation or cognitive problems, so you can immediately resume normal activities, like driving home or going to work. There are few to no side effects with TMS.

TMS Patient Testimonials

"The providers at the TMS Center at Southeastern Psychiatric Associates really made all the difference in making the commitment to undergo TMS. I’ve struggled with depression for all of my adolescent and adult life, and medication after medication, something always failed. Side effects, lack of response, or something that was working just stops working. It’s frustrating to depend on your well being being contingent upon medications. I was once again at a breaking point when I started to research new methods of treating depression, and came across TMS. I had actually been a patient of Dr. Warstadt's for several years already, and was pleasantly surprised to find out he was a provider for this treatment."

“I am so grateful for TMS treatment. When I started I was in a deep depression, crying most days with little hope. After about 4 weeks I started noticing improvement which continued to develop over the 36 treatments. Today I am happy, hopeful and enjoying the simple things like playing with my kids, eating healthy, engaging in work and important relationships. Colors look brighter and activities are coming back naturally. I am also very grateful to have had Ashley help me along the journey, she has been a caring and supportive part of my treatment.”
